What can I outsource?

If you’ve been in business for a while, you’ll have probably reached the stage where you’re ready to outsource some of your work. You know you can no longer do it all alone and, if you want your business to move up a step, you’re going to need some help.

Outsourcing is a great way to get the help you need, without having to hire a new in-house employee. But what exactly can you outsource?

Here are the first five things you can outsource, if you want to upscale your business.

outsource appointment booking#1: A Scheduler

If growing your business involves making calls and setting up meetings, you’ll want to outsource this work. A scheduler can carry out prequalifying calls and sales calls for you – both crucial for service-based businesses.

Not sure you need a scheduler? Look at your various call and conversion rates and work out how many calls you’ll need to make each week, in order to reach the income targets you’re after. You can outsource that work and save your own time – and, we all know you need to be making regular calls each week, right?

#2: Bookkeeper/accountant

When you’re first starting out in business, you may have cut back on your expenses by keeping your own financial records, using a simple excel spreadsheet.

As your business grows though, you’ll want to make sure you’re filling those records out correctly, paying the right levels of tax, National Insurance, VAT AND claiming the expenses you’re entitled to. Give yourself a break – outsource this type of work to a professional.

#3: Website development/management

outsource website maintenanceWhether your site is HTML or platform based (such as WordPress), running and maintaining a website is using time you just don’t have. You want to make sure your site has adequate protection and regular backups AND some help when you need to update the content. Outsourcing this will save you HOURS of time!

#4: Social media

If you want your business to grow, you need to be social – and that’s where your social media accounts come in. You want to raise your profile, interact, promote your own services and products AND not be seen as a spammer! Outsourcing this type of work will ensure you can do them all right – across the different social media platforms.

#5: Virtual Assistant

When it comes to business hours, most of our day is needlessly taken up with business administration. Whether that entails emails, appointments, chasing other people, invoicing etc., it’s all work we can easily outsource to someone else – especially as our time is worth so much more to ourselves AND is more valuable to others, when we spend it on those skills WE excel at – and outsource the administrative tasks to those who excel in those areas.

How do you feel about outsourcing? Do you currently outsource to some (or all) of the above? What was your biggest takeaway as a result?
